Lighting the Path Consulting Services

Intervention Support for High School Readers, Writers, and State Test Takers

For more than five decades, I have worked with high school students from many cultures, languages, and backgrounds. My consulting work grows directly out of my classroom experience — years spent teaching English, ESL, and reading intervention, and supporting teachers who needed practical ways to help their students succeed.

My goal is simple: to support educators as they support the students who struggle the most.

I offer targeted intervention guidance that is relationship-centered, realistic, and grounded in what actually works in high school classrooms — especially for struggling readers, hesitant writers, multilingual learners, and state test takers who need clarity and confidence.

Biography

About Marilyn

Marilyn G. Lunnon is an educator with 54 years of classroom experience, including many years as an English teacher before transitioning into ESL instruction. Her work has centered on helping students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and confident communicators.

Over the course of her career, Marilyn taught English, ESL, and reading intervention, working with students from many cultures and language backgrounds. She became known for creating classrooms where students felt encouraged, supported, and capable — especially those who needed extra patience or a gentle push to believe in themselves.

Marilyn's approach has always been relationship-centered and practical. She draws from real classroom experience, not theory, and focuses on strategies teachers can use right away. Her work with multilingual learners, struggling readers, and diverse classrooms reflects decades of hands-on teaching rather than formal specialization.

Today, Marilyn offers consulting and professional development to schools and districts seeking guidance in areas such as ESL Program Support, Reading Intervention Training, and Teacher Mentoring. Her goal is simple: to support teachers as they support children.

Marilyn is also the author of I Have a Dream for Every Boy & Girl, a memoir that shares the stories and lessons that shaped her life in education. Through both her writing and consulting, she continues her mission.
